About the Project
It is a commercial inn located on Havra Street. In the past, it had the functions of a molasses and winery and a biscuit factory. The structure was converted into a shoemakers' arcade with a reinforced concrete intervention after 1968. Today, there are 36 shops in the two-story structure. The total construction area is 535 m².
The Historical Akın Passage was built in 1905 according to the numbers 5660 on the keystone on the stone frame of the entrance door on Havra Street.
The Historical Akın Passage will provide food and beverage services to Izmir residents and local and foreign tourists 12 months a year. Within the scope of the project, there will be a restaurant with a capacity of approximately 100 people on the second floor of the building and a business with exhibition and sales areas of unique flavors of Izmir cuisine on the ground floor.
The Historical Akın Passage is located on Havra Street, adjacent to the Ets Hayim Synagogue.
The reinforced concrete columns, beams and floors added later to The Historical Akın Passage were removed, the external walls of the pile were repaired, and the completely damaged roof was renovated in accordance with the original. Two floors were created with a steel carrier system inside the building, and the roof load was transferred to the steel structure. The innkeeper's room on the first floor, which was located in the first restitution period, was restored in accordance with the original.
The Historical Akın Passagewas rented from the owners for a long term in return for restoration.
